In a sentence, How Funny is an average sit-com movie that happens to entertain just okay.

This is a story of two best friends Ramita (Priyanka Karki) and Pushpa (Keki Adhikari) hired by a CBI officer Tej Bahadur Rai (Dayahang Rai) for a case of missing daughter Heera (Nisha Adhikari) of a rich businessman (Shishir Rana). The girls mismatch the case with another one named ‘Diamond Case’ and the series of twists and turns begin. Anoop Bikram Shahi plays another CBI officer Kumud.

The overall writing could have been tighter but the describing of nuances of human emotions in the plots is praise-worthy anyway. It talks about being who you are and accepting the flaws in you, not worrying about the little weirdness that you have and building the self-confidence, and going focused on the path pursued. These little simple life values projected on the characters help to give the different dynamic to the movie.

The plots are weaker, though. Comedy seems forcefully implied at places. Even though the characterizations are good, the development of events taking place is not much up to the mark. While some scenes look believable, some come across as cliché and too dramatic.

But as long as it cracks laughter and entertains, it’s okay anyway. The movie gets better in the second half. The climax scene is a good one. The director Sherpa has thus done a decent job, but there can be seen many places for improvement.

Though songs are nice, it doesn’t help in the story. Dialogues are funny. Editing is okay. Cinematography is good. Background score is average.

Keki Adhikari and Priyanka Karki are better amongst the others when it comes to performances. The roles look like tailor-made for them and they have done quite a good job in portraying so. Dayahang Rai is nice as well. Anoop Bikram Shahi and Nisha Adhikari are okay. Bijay Baral is nice. Shishir Rana is average. Sandeep Chhetri in his famous how funny accent appears in a cameo and that is a delight to watch.

Overall, How Funny is not very good and not bad as well. An average comedy.
