Top 10 Nepali Movie Songs of 2071

Most of the second half of 2071 B.S. was dominated by Jaalma, the amazing peppy track from movie Resham Filili (released on Baisakh 11, 2072). The hit run of the song is continued in early 2072 as well. Well, if only the devastating earthquake had not hit Nepal!

I am no critic to judge which is best and which is not. And everybody has got his/her own taste in music. From the large numbers of songs from the movies released on 2071 BS, here I have picked my favorite ones.

1. Bistarai Bistarai (Soul Sister)
It is the cover song performed by Namrata Shrestha in her movie Soul Sister. While the original version of Rohit John Chhetri is undoubtedly awesome, this one in Namrata’s voice is equally lovely. Her voice is very good and she has crooned the track wonderfully. Much pleasing to ears!

2. Maya Khai Kasle Bujhyo (Kabaddi)
Roshan Thapa’s music is damn good that makes the song beautiful. Suresh Kumar Chhetri has sung the song nicely and the lyrics suited the plot of a movie perfectly. One fine piece of music.

3. Pal Bharmai Khushi (November Rain)
This sad song in the vocals of Rajina Rimal, Yubraj Chaulagain and Melina Rai is one of the best to come out in the year. Tara Prakash Limbu’s music scored brownie points, for a movie too.

4. K Yo Maya Ho (Jerryy)
There is no wonder why this song became an instant hit. Hercules Basnet rocked. It has got all the romantic feels and the soothing tones. The video was beautiful too, thanks to the beauty of Mustang and also to the chemistry between Anmol KC and Anna Sharma.
(P.S. Third movie song titled “K Yo Maya Ho”!)

5. Kammar Mathi Patuki (Nai Nabhannu La 3)
Full of Nepali feels! It had been quite a time since this type of song had been last released. And it is nice too. Melina Rai has sung it delightfully to the hummable music by Basanta Sapkota.

6. Paani Bina (Suntali)
Unique, traditional and beautiful. This song was in my head since I heard a portion of it in movie’s trailer. Night band amazingly plays with traditional instruments and gives us superb songs. It’s very up to the roots! Jason Kunwar and Sumnima Singh are very much talented.

7. Chahanchhu (Jerryy)
Hercules Basnet again. This is emotional one and strikes the right chords.

8. Lakhar Lakhar (Zindagi Rocks)
This fun track by Sugam Pokhrel is pretty enjoyable.

9. Paap Yehi Punya Yehi (Mala)
Another unique piece. While lyrics is very good, music (Manoj Kumar KC) is haunting. Thumbs up to the song as a whole.

10. Aakhai Aghi Jalyo (Shree Paanch Ambare)
Shiva Pariyar is the just right choice to do this song. He nails these sad songs. Kali Prasad Baskota’s music is good.

Some More...
Now when I have already talked about unique, here is the one that stands out.
  • Samaj (OST: Red Monsoon)
Lochan Rijal is talented and how.

Last but not the least, we have our own item numbers. Here are two of them which I found entertaining and better than the others in the lot.

1. Nachana Maiya (Talakjung vs Tulke)
I loved the lyrics especially. And the video too.

2. Timro Dola Dola Haatma (Hawaldaar Suntali)
Heard it a couple of times and it got easy on ears. Way too Bollywood-y though!

HAPPY LISTENING peeps.
