Top Nepali Movies 2072

Even though the year 2072 B.S. was devastating in many ways for a nation, it became quite a better year for the Nepali movie industry. The commercial success of movies was relatively greater in number. The main problem in most of the movies remains to be the screenplay. But the future is bright for sure, with many makers trying out to bring the better cinema. Pashupati Prasad is the greatest achievement of this year.

Pardesi, Dreams, Kabaddi Kabaddi, Pashupati Prasad, Prem Geet, Resham Filili, Hostel Returns, Bhairav, Classic, Woda No. 6 are the front-runners in the terms of business. The last releases of the year, Nai Nabhannu La 4 and Rampyari both are doing great business as per the news. Movies like Fanko, Ko Afno, Bhaag Sani Bhaag, Dhauli, Rahadani failed at the box-office despite their mostly average to good reviews.

Here are few movies that I found better amongst the rest.

1. Pashupati Prasad
This sure is the movie of the year, but it also is one of the few very good Nepali movies in the history. The freshness in the story, the polished direction, and writing, and the bravura performances made this movie an unforgettable one. Pashupati Prasad is one awesome movie. This set an example of the magic of good content over other aspects.

2. Kabaddi Kabaddi
Coming on the second is the sequel to last year’s superhit Kabaddi; Kabaddi Kabaddi took the nation by storm. It was such a nice feeling to see those huge footfalls at theaters in the second weekend as well. It has the fine story and very good presentation complimented by the strong performances from the whole ensemble cast.

3. Woda No. 6
Deepak Raj Giri and team were back with Woda No. 6 and they surprised everyone by bringing the good content packed inside the box wrapped up with comedy.

4. Resham Filili
Resham Filili was a full-on entertainer, special mention to the Hariya and the very song Jaalma. It went overboard at places, but all in all, it was a decent movie.

5. Prem Geet, Ko Afno
Prem Geet
The most romantic movie of the year, Prem Geet had its clichés but it entertained well, thanks to the director’s work, actors’ performances, and the music.

Ko Afno
Ko Afno can be termed an off-beat cinema, as it had the unique style of making. Good content and first-rate performances are its’ plus points whereas the meandering screenplay and the slow pace harmed the overall impact of the movie.
